Our
company occupies 33,000 sq. ft. of building space of which 25,000 sq. ft. are
laboratories, design, and shop facilities. STI
has a fully equipped machine shop. Its
capabilities include a large computer numerically controlled (CNC) milling
machine, which allows for rapid production of complicated precision work and
production runs. This CNC milling
machine is fully integrated with the CAD systems giving STI a complete
computer aided machining CAD/CAM system thus speeding the fabrication
process. Surface grinding is available
as required by the application. We
also use outside facilities to supplement our own capabilities, and call upon
the extensive base of certified resources that exist locally. STI maintains an inspection facility in which parts
manufactured in and out of house are verified against specifications. This quality assurance laboratory is well
equipped with an optical comparator and other metrology tooling suitable for
the type of precision scientific equipment produced by STI. We have state-of-the-art magnetic measurement instruments that are able to precisely measure the magnetic field characteristics of the devices we build, including wiggler/undulators that are meters in length. The magnetic measurement room is temperature-controlled to ensure the accuracy of our magnetic measurements. STI
owns an extensive inventory of laboratory equipment, including lasers, optical
hardware, optics, electronic diagnostic equipment, optical diagnostic
equipment, and laboratory hardware. |
