Custom Magnetic Devices

Our expertise in magnetic engineering allows us to model, design, fabricate, and test many different novel devices based upon permanent magnets (PM), electromagnets (EM), and hybrids using both PM and EM components.

One example is a patented linear dispersion mass spectrometer magnet.  Unlike typical magnets used in mass spectrometers, the magnetic field distribution has been designed to disperse at its output plane the ions passing through the magnet in a linear fashion as a function of the ion mass.  This permits a detector with evenly spaced collection traps to collect the ions.  This can greatly simplify and reduce the cost of the detector system.

Other examples of devices we have designed and built include PM/EM hybrid drivers for scanning mirrors and ultra-compact nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) magnet devices.  More information about these devices is available in our Magnetic Devices Brochures.
